An interview with Round Table, Event Partner of One Special Walk

One Special Walk wouldn’t be shaping up to be such an amazing event on Friday 3 October without the support of event partners like Round Table Great Britain and Ireland. We spoke to Jon Clark, their National President.
Hey Jon, thank you so much for your incredible support this year! Please, could you introduce yourself and Round table?
Hi, my name is Jon Clark, long time gamer, season ticket holder at Charlton Athletic and I’m currently the National President of Round Table Great Britain and Ireland!
We are an events-based social club for young men with around 300 groups across the UK and Ireland, meeting twice a month to try exciting activities, make new friends, and get involved in local communities, working alongside our partner clubs in the Round Table Family.
That’s incredible, we love community activities! Could you tell us how you got involved with SpecialEffect?
I previously worked in the games and events industry for 15 years. I came across SpecialEffect on many occasions, and was inspired by the work they do, and the impact they have on the lives of the people they support.
Each year, the National President chooses a charity to support and fundraise for throughout the year. I had no hesitation in contacting the SpecialEffect team to make this partnership happen!
We’re so thankful for your support! So, how has Round Table supported SpecialEffect this year?
So far we have been selling our merchandise with all profits going to SpecialEffect. We also have a charity ball happening in March 2026, which will be a fantastic evening of celebration!
One of my personal challenges this year was to get myself fitter. So for the 10K Your Way Challenge in July, me and my partner Rachel, completed 10,000 steps every day, a fire walk, and a 10km walk at the end of the month. This inspired me to do even more, and I can’t wait for One Special Walk on 3 October!

I will be walking the full course (which is probably the furthest I have walked in one day in the last decade!) with a great group from across the Round Table Family in the UK and Ireland! Walking has huge health benefits, both physically and mentally. It will also be a great chance to spend the day fundraising with a fantastic group of people, and better still there is a shorter route and both courses are fully accessible to all! Looking forward to seeing you there!
