Look out for eleven hardy souls in SpecialEffect tops traversing the Thames in early September, braving whatever the British weather throws at them. They’ll be the team from Mountford Pigott, a London-based architectural practice who have taken on the Thames Bridges Trek, a 25km challenge route that takes in 16 bridges.
“To celebrate our 101st anniversary we launched the Mountford Pigott 101 Initiative,” said David Turner, a Project Runner with the company. “We’re taking 101 worktime hours of social value service throughout the year, and in addition we’re tackling team-building challenges like this one as part of our wellbeing programme.”
The Thames Bridges Trek is part of the Ultra Challenge programme, a series of 15 long-distance running/jogging/walking events around the UK. The programme raises millions of pounds for charity as well as providing a great opportunity for individuals and groups to participate in adventures around the UK.
“We’re so excited to be supporting this amazing charity and the work that you do,” said David. “We’ve loved reading about the clever adaptations that allow people to have access to the digital world! Clearly, many people feel the same as we do about SpecialEffect since we’ve had a fantastic response on our Justgiving page as well as great messages of support – although quite a few mention throwing one particular team member in the water… hmmm.”
So far the team haven’t organised any group training events but they are looking forward to a team breakfast at a local staffer’s house – although it will add another 5000 steps to their count for the day!
A huge thank you to Mountford Pigott. We’re so grateful for their amazing support, and hope that the challenge isn’t a bridge too far for the team!
