Good old-fashioned email support has come to the rescue of Chris, a passionate gamer with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, who was finding it difficult to press all the buttons on his PS3 controller.

We’re unable to carry out assessments in person at the moment so our specialist team are using a range of online methods, such as email and video calls. They provided Chris and his family with targeted advice and the loan of a carefully chosen equipment setup that had the best potential to restore access to the games he loved. The loan included a Xbox Adaptive Controller, along with two small switches which were attached to his wheelchair headrest as an alternative way of easily accessing the L3 and R3 buttons.

As a result, he’s able to enjoy Ark: Survival Evolved and Minecraft on his PC again thanks to a setup that his father describes as “A godsend for Chris and his sanity.”

Throughout the pandemic, our dedicated team are carrying out its life-transforming work through the kind of online assessment and support that Chris is receiving. We’ll continue to welcome new referrals, so if you need our help, please do get in touch!
