This week’s news that an image of Alan Turing is to appear on the new £50 note has prompted media pictures of his statue in Manchester surrounded by flowers. That’s the work of our wonderful friend Joe Reddington who, with the help of friends, has laid flowers at the statue of the pioneering scientist and WWII codebreaker on his birthday every year since 2013 in support of SpecialEffect.

People from all over the world have made donations that cover a bunch of flowers and a gift towards our work helping people with physical disabilities to experience a better quality of life through technology.

We’re SO excited to tell you that this unique and lovely gesture has raised a record £2,600 this year. That’s over £10,000 since the initiative started!

Huge, huge thanks again to Joe and everyone involved, we can’t thank you enough – this really is such a great idea!
